We are really sorry about the ongoing fire alarm during last night and the disruption to everyone in the Milton of Leys community. The facilities management team have been working throughout the day to address the problem.
Thank you to everyone for your patience – we sincerely regret the disruption and as stated below, we trust that with the systems check there will not be a repeat of this issue again.
Here is the Facilities Management team update:
In the early hours of Thursday morning a fault in the biomass boiler triggered the fire alarm in the boiler house. The fire brigade attended but unable to access the school and finding no signs of heat, smoke or fire left the site. They attended again at just past 6.00am and still found no signs of fire. The fire alarm was turned off on-site by a member of staff just before 8.00am. The biomass boilers have been shut down until fully inspected by an engineer. This has highlighted a failing in the system which has since been identified and a solution put in place that we hope will prevent this sort of thing happening again, for the foreseeable future.
It is extremely regrettable that this has happened and the team at Milton of Leys Primary School would like to apologise for the disruption through the night to the local community and assure everyone that we have done everything in our power to avoid this in the future.
