VE Day at MOL

On Monday, there will be a VE Day school assembly and a learning grid with some WWII/ VE Day linked learning activities for the children. Rather than journeying to a new country, next week we will look back in time to mark the 75th anniversary of the ending of WWII, along with the rest of the nation. There will be a number of events organised nationally to mark this anniversary, notably on Friday May 8th, a pubic holiday and day of the anniversary of the ending of the war.

The assembly and learning grid will be our way of marking the occasion as a school and community. This will include asking the children to speak with families to find out about family or community connections with WWII and VE Day, and sharing pictures of items from the war (such as letters, pictures or even medals).

We will invite you to join the nation’s bid to create bunting to celebrate the day, and you may find a surprise invitation to watch a surprise MOL VE Day performance!

Finally, please make a note of Thursday May 7th at 2.00pm when we will hold our own VE Day tea party – more information about this to follow next week.
