We have been fortunate that the heavy snow originally forecast for today did not arrive and there does not appear to be significant snowfall forecast through the evening and overnight. At the moment, it looks like the school will be open as usual tomorrow (Thursday 18th January). It does look like temperatures may drop overnight, so please be careful on the roads and pavements tomorrow as conditions may be icy.
According to Highland Council Severe Weather Guidelines, ‘It is the responsibility of parents or carers to decide if a pupil should attempt to travel to school, by transport or on foot, in adverse weather conditions. The Education Authority encourages full attendance at school but in severe weather conditions the safety of pupils is much more important.’ This being the case, we will understand if you do not send your child to school if you feel it is unsafe to do so.
Please make sure that you subscribe to the school blog so that you get any notifications if the school does close and we will endeavour to update the school bad weather phoneline as soon as a decision is made, on 0800 564 2272 and using the PIN number: 041820. We understand that the Highland Council website had difficulties updating this morning, but we will try to update this as soon as we can if the school is to close.
