As promised yesterday, here is the official letter from Eco Schools, informing us of our award of Green Flag. As mentioned yesterday, this is a fantastic achievement which we are very proud of!
Dear Staff, Pupils and Parents,
Eco-Schools Scotland – Eco-Schools Green Flag Award status
I am delighted to confirm that your school has successfully gained Eco-Schools Green Flag Award status. This is an outstanding achievement, so please pass on our congratulations to everyone involved.
Interim Assessment Report
Congratulations to everyone at Milton of Leys Primary on achieving your Green Flag status. I really enjoyed reading your application and thought you had made a super start to your Eco journey, monitoring progress well and sharing your successes with the wider community via the school blog, the local press and even BBC Radio Scotland! It was great to hear about all the hard work which had gone into improving your grounds and I loved the idea of your MOL in Bloom competition, involving members of your community in the judging. In addition, you have thoroughly embedded Eco into the curriculum and calendar via classwork like your interdisciplinary Raised Bed topic, your involvement with the John Muir Trust and events such as your Green Day. In so doing, you have forged great partnerships with local businesses and environmental groups, such as the Community Council, Tesco, RoWAN, the Forestry Commission, Inverness Botanical Gardens and the Aigas Field Centre, who have shared their experience and resources with you, allowing your pupils to grow in confidence and expertise.
Well done and enjoy exploring the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as part of your future Eco work.
Please continue your next Eco-Schools two year renewal as before by choosing new topics and creating new Action Plans, prior to a launch of a refreshed Eco-Schools Scotland process in 2017. T
