MOL Football Success!

football march 2013 2 football march 2013

Hot on the heels of the festival success, we have more good news to report. At the weekend, two of the school’s football teams achieved great results. The information below has been kindly provided by the coaches who give up their own time to support the children, so a big thanks to all involved and well done to all the players:The p6/7 team made it a clean sweep for MoL when we won the P6/7 tournament as well.

P6/7 MOL/Inshes Team

The team is a combined team with Inshes, and representing MoL were Alistair Fraser, Daniel McKay and Jack Hollister.

The team went through the group stages with successes against Kirkhill/Kiltarlity (8-0) and Raigmore (2-0) and a draw with Dalneigh (0-0).

The knock out stages saw a rematch with Raigmore (1-0) before a tough match with tournament favourites Crown.  This ended 0-0 with MoL/Inshes winning on penalties.

The semi final saw a winning goal from Daniel McKay edge out Duncan Forbes.

This meant the team reached the final without conceding a goal. The opposition were Lochardil.

In the final MoL/Inshes went ahead by a goal but were pegged back with the last kick of the first half.

With no goals in the second half, the match went to a penalty shoot out.

Alistair Fraser made some brilliant saves and then took and scored the winning penalty.
