More MOL P4/5 Football Successes!!!

Milton of Leys FC continued our recent run of good form by winning the Gordon Bennett Memorial Cup on Saturday. We were drawn in a tough group yet won all three games by beating Kinmylies 2-1, Crown 2-1 and Milton Athletic 4-0. Winning the group meant a next round game against Kirkhill and Kiltarlity where the boys ran out comfortable 6-0 winners. In the quarter final we were drawn again against Kinmylies. We lost a goal in the last minute to finish 2-2 and the game went to penalties where the boys were clinical with the spot kicks and went through to the semis. Once again we played Milton Athletic and won 3-0 to reach the final. The other half of the draw also saw some close games and it took penalties for Cradlehall to beat Inshes in the other semi to also make the final. Cradlehall took an early lead in the final but we soon equalised. We fell behind again before half time and it looked like the final was slipping away until we scored an equaliser in the final minutes to take the match to penalties. The shoot out was as tense as the Champion League final with missed pens, great saves and cool finishing as the shoot-out went to sudden death where they missed their next kick and we scored ours to win the cup for Milton of Leys!

The winning team were, Innes M, Euan F, Shane H, Clarke H, Ryan M, Ewan C, Lewis S & Calum M. Another fantastic achievement from the boys in theirfirst year as a team. The Coaches are very proud of how the boys performed, dug deep when needed and how they conducted themselves during the wholetournament – The MoL Coaches.
