Milton of Leys P4/5 team took part and did very well in their 1st tournament at the weekend. We got knocked out of the tournament at the quarter finals stage on sudden death penalties, despite not conceding a goal all tournament!!
The team won through the group stages scoring 10 goals & conceding none. The schools 1st ever match was against Muirtown which we won 3-0. Ryan M scored the schools 1st goal in a tournament closely followed by goals from Lewis S & Ewan C. Next was a tight 1-0 win over a good Culloden side with Shane H grabbing the winner. Next up was a 6-0 win over a St Josephs thanks to a Clarke H hat-trick that Lionel Messi would have been proud of!
The team progressed to the knockout stages with the best record of all the teams in the competition to play Cauldean which the boys won 3-0. The QF was against Central Primary. A tight game finished nil nil and after 3 pens per team it went to sudden death with their keeper pulling of a stunning save to stop the boys progressing to the semi final.
The tournament gave the team some great experience and they now know what to expect in future tournaments. There is no doubt that they got a lot of praise for how they played and conducted themselves both on & off the pitch. They did a fabulous job representing the school and the coaches were very proud of them.
We also got some great feedback from the organisers that it was good to see another School taking part and they definitely stood out in the red & white strips.
The 10 boys who played were – Louis G, Euan F, Clarke H, Innes M, Craig W, Callum M, Ewan C, Shane H, Ryan M & Lewis S. They would like to say thank you to all the parents & grandparents who came along to cheer them on.
[A huge congratulations from Mr Quigley and all the staff!]
