Bulb Planting and Teddy Bear’s Picnic!

See below for information on the successful Bulb Planting and Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Saturday (24th Sep)

On Saturday, children from Milton of Leys Primary School and volunteers from the community came out in force to plant some 3,000 spring bulbs. These bulbs had been kindly donated to the School by Simpson’s Garden Centre, Inverness.   Milton of Leys Primary School opened its doors for the first time in August this year and has been created and built to make outdoor learning accessible.  Each of the 11 classrooms has its outside deck / learning space and it was beside these areas that the children planted the bulbs. Staff from Simpson’s Garden Centre were on hand to advise on planting for best results, so that come the spring Milton of Leys should have a tremendous splash of colour.

Whilst the older ones were busy outside, the younger members of the Milton of Leys community were invited along to a fun-packed Teddy Bear’s Picnic – with arts and crafts, games and stories and, of course, a yummy picnic. With their hand-made teddy bear ears and painted noses, they all had so much fun!

Both these events were organised by the Milton of Leys Parent Council.  They followed on from an amazing Summer Fete held at the beginning of September, which saw the new school buzzing with excitement and fun. The Parent Council have an ambitious year of fundraising events planned – to find out more visit the school blog on http://miltonofleysblog.wordpress.com.
